Tree for a Tree

When it comes to Christmas, it can be a bit of a minefield when making choices that are environmentally conscious. There’s so much to consider: wrapping paper, glitter, Christmas cards, real tree or fake tree? And that’s just the beginning.

Every year in the UK, we throw away:

  • 27,000 miles of wrapping paper
  • One billion Christmas cards
  • The equivalent of 2 million turkeys
  • 500 tonnes of fairy lights
  • Five million Christmas puddings
  • One in ten unwanted Christmas presents
  • 6 million Christmas trees

Then there’s the debate, Fake tree vs. real tree? Our suggestion would be, if you already have a fake tree then use it for as long as possible and if you’d like a real tree rent or buy one that’s in a pot and can be used year after year.

But, what if you’ve already bought one a real one and are now feeling guilty about it? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back!

This Christmas you can feel a little less guilty about having a real Christmas Tree. We’re working with our reforestation partner in the UK to plant trees to replace ones that have been cut down to be used as a Christmas tree!

We’ll also send you a seed packet complete with compost pod so you can grow a Christmas tree yourself at home, that way you can keep it for yourself, or give it as a gift!
